The
Outboard
engine: 50
-70 h.p.
For 50 h.p: we recommend the propeller
screw with the pitch 12,5 " for water skier towage and for full load
travels; a pitch 13" screw is the most universal one, pitch 13,5 " is
most convenient for use with the 1 or 2 passengers onboard.
Very good mileage shows the
Honda BF50
engine with a 4-blade Propulse
screw with adjustable pitch (this screw
lowers the maximum speed by1,5 - 2 knots, but allows to cover all
requirements with one screw). The maximum speed with a 50 h.p.
engine is about 25 knots depending on the actual loading.
When a 60 h.p. engine and a 15" pitch
screw are used, the maximum speed increases to 28 knots.
When a 70 h.p. engine and a 17" pitch
screw are used, the maximum speed increases to 30 knots.
We
do not recommend to mount more powerful engines because it
considerably increases the
STM
4700
Sportfun
speed (up to 40 knots with the 90 h.p. engine and 19" pitch screw)
which is unsafe since the catamaran flies at the rate of 18 m in one
second, and aerodynamic elevating force reaches 10 % of
displacement. To control such a small catamaran at such speed
requires a lot of experience and skill.
Trailers:
The catamaran can be transported on any trailer
with the 750 kg capacity.
If you purchase a trailer yourself and prepare it
for STM 4700
SportFun transportation - herebelow are the necessary dimensions of the frame.

The
rest of transportation, launch and lifting from water does not
differ from similar operations with a one-hull boat of the same
size.
